One Step Forward...

As you might have guessed, there was an "incident" while doing my physical therapy exercises on Wednesday.  While I was doing leg squats with my exercise ball against the closed bathroom door, the door opened on the 10th one and I fell.  It didn't scare me as much as it seems to have scared Andy, and I don't think it did any real damage, but it did give me another set-back in the ongoing back recovery.  I had managed to do an hour of pool walking on Monday, so at least I was probably at a better place for a set-back (if I had to have one) than just a couple weeks ago.  But it's frustrating all the same.  And frankly, this one really, REALLY hurt.  Even with full drugs, I was pretty much immobile Wednesday and most of Thursday, though yesterday I felt pretty good in the morning so we went out to lunch and to a library book sale, which was hugely exciting for me as I hadn't even made it downstairs for a couple days.  It was probably a little over-exciting for my back because the afternoon had to be spent in bed, but I made it the entire day without Valium.  Some days the key to my sanity is staying focused on the little victories...............:)

New Lesson Learned Yesterday

When one is doing leg squats by leaning on an exercise ball against a closed door, the safest method would be to do it on the side of the door that would come TOWARD you if the latch isn't that strong--not away................

It's Spring In The Greenhouse!

We're growing things!
Spinach is EVERYWHERE, the lettuce survived my transplanting efforts,
and even the carrots, broccoli, and cilantro are doing well.
Now comes the part we hadn't previously thought of: what to do with the plants that have outgrown their little pots?  We don't have any more of the bigger pots.  Since all this is cool-weather stuff, I think at least the spinach can be moved outside.  As we have two entire flats of seedlings, killing a few of them off wouldn't be such a bad thing.  They aren't in cycles or anything--both flats were planted on the same day, so we're about to be overrun by the stuff.

To follow suit,

I've been putting up spring decorations in the house as well.  I haven't put them up in a few years, so it's sort of fun.
Not to mention that I am really tired of winter.  I think I would even have primroses growing outside right now if I didn't keep killing them.  We have some spring bulbs, and so far I haven't seen any mole or vole activity in the flower beds, so the race is on.  We planted daffodils and something else (I'll look it up when I actually see something growing), and several new types of irises (iri?) that the little monsters won't eat, so now they just have to be able to survive my gardening skills.  I wish them the very best of luck..............

Superbowl Sunday

The day Americans quit hating each other over politics, religion, guns and gay rights and hate each other over a sport other people are actually playing, and when the number of armchair quarterbacks outnumber the sudden surge of armchair constitutional scholars, doctors, and economists...............

The Look

Anyone who thinks cats can't learn things hasn't lived with one. It took Theo maybe a month into his diet to figure out that I can...
