IT LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Image
The lilac is alive!  I bought this last year because I adore the scent of lilacs in the spring and have always been able to get my lilac-smelling fix when out walking, but the subdivision we live in now hadn't a single lilac bush anywhere.  Isn't that tragic?  So, I found this one last year at Costco, and the tag had a picture of little purple flowers with white edging, and not only have I not killed it, it is the bush on the label!  As all gardeners know, this doesn't always happen, and I have tried to not get TOO excited about this one until we were sure it was the right one.  And it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Thank heavens I really can't lift things right now--I'm so delighted with this one that I might have been tempted to go to Costco this week and get it some friends......

In Theory......

This is why "Oh, the cats are both outside, so it's the perfect time to change the sheets" only works in theory....

Sooner or Later, Everything Is Going To Work

The original problem--sacroiliac joint dysfunction--is probably as fixed as it is going to be.  I'll never be able to NOT do exercises and therapy to hold it in place (unless maybe when I am old enough to have arthritis sort of fuse it in place), but that's okay.  Exercise is good for me and having muscles is always a good thing.

The secondary problem--the knot of pain that was pulling my muscles out of whack last year and caused the visit to the physiatrist--is getting fixed.  The muscles have to take time to heal, but I think they are because I get fewer and fewer random "zaps" of pain and thankfully that my-backside-predicts-snow thing didn't last very long.

The tertiary problem--standing wrong to accommodate the pain--is hopefully fixed

The sitting problem may never be fixed.

The NEW challenge (because I've just SO enjoyed all the others): The latest therapy has changed how I've walked my entire life.  When I was a kid, my parents put my sister and I…

Back To Forward.......

Some days I can't decide if I'm progressing or not.  Two weeks ago, we were out 4 out of 7 nights, I was really sore but mobile......and kicked off last week with the stomach flu.  I doubt anyone really has the stomach and back muscles for 8 hours of vomiting, but I definitely do not.  I was in bed most of last week with that, and then yesterday I was able to walk 40 minutes in the pool.  I was hoping for 60, but all things considered, I'm just glad I could be there at all.

Today I did 35 minutes of walking after running errands, and tomorrow I'll try the pool again.  I think this means I'm making progress, though I'll admit that my idea of progress is more of a straight-line than this.  But I'm much stronger than I was a month ago when I tried the pool, so I think all this up and down business is still averaging out as "up."  Fingers crossed......
