* The very things that I love about cats as pets--their independence, their lack of self-pity--are the very things that make them dreadful patients.

What an amazing idea! Kitty suspenders - I think these are what in England we would call braces. My husband has a jokey set which is decorated with tools.
I wonder if anyone makes mouse patterned elasticated fabric..........
